The problems are exacerbated by an uninformed medical system that can’t agree on the symptoms or treatment. In fact, Arlington exterminators say until recently, it was believed by many professionals that ticks in the Southwest cannot transmit the disease. Local residents hope the new law will enable better treatment and a higher awareness of the problem.
