Bridgeport, the most populous city in Connecticut, is also the former residence of showman and circus promoter P.T. Barnum, who was also a one-time Mayor of the city. Though the circus is full of wild animals, and Barnum himself used to house them in his home when it wasn’t travelling, residents sometimes need to hire pest control services in Bridgeport and across Connecticut to keep unwanted animals out of their homes. In the summer of 2011, for example, unwanted emerald ash borers came to the area, and Bridgeport exterminators had to be called in to save the ash trees, which make up about 5% of the region’s trees.
